My standard performing setup for improvisation

The Signal Processing Instrument

This consists of:

MacIntosh G3 computer AND/OR IRCAM Signal Processing Workstation

Two DrumKat MIDI controllers

Yamaha MFC10 MIDI foot controller

Peavey PC1600 MIDI fader controller

Wacom Graphics Tablet

Cables, interfaces, stands, etc.

My normal practise is to use a local mixer with dedicated mics for the processing. I normally use a Yamaha 03D for this. I can bring this mixer OR an equivalent can be supplied locally.

Alternatively I would need a separate send from the main desk for each performer, including a microphone for me, which is not sent to the PA. A total of four Auxiliaries is usually adequate for me. For duo performances two sends are adequate. I will also send four returns to the mix. These are usually routed to separate loudspeakers, either two at the front and two at the rear of the audience, or in an arc across the stage. In the event that this is not possible, the four signals may be panned across two speakers, but this is less satisfactory.
