Technical information

This will give you an idea of the practical aspects of Colourscape shows but if you would like more details please download
'The Venue needs to Provide' and
'Organising a Colourscape show'.

Set-up ‚ A Colourscape needs to be on a non abrasive surface, so grass is ideal. On harder surfaces an undercover is necessary. Colourscape is anchored by straps and pegs or by weights. The site is set up over 2 or 3 days (according to the size being used).

Take-down ‚ After a show, Colourscape is cleaned and packed over a period of 2 or 3 days (according to the size used).

Entrance area ‚ An entrance canopy covers the box office, the cloaks and the storage area for visitors shoes.

Team ‚ Our experienced team supervise the show, training local staff when appropriate and ensuring that visitors have a quality experience. The number in the team varies according to the needs of each show and the Colourscape used.

Visitors ‚ There is a maximum number of people allowed inside Colourscape at any time. This is managed by the number of colour cloaks, which people wear to go inside. People usually stay for as long as they wish. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. There is full wheelchair access.

Health and Safety ‚ Smoking, eating and drinking is not allowed inside Colourscape. Colourscape has a perfect safety record. The material used is fire-retardant P.V.C. and the test certificate is available on request. The team members are trained in safety procedures, the details of which are kept at front of house. All staff have CRB certificates.

Admission charges
‚ The public usually pay to enter Colourscape and the admission charges are set and retained by the event organisers. In our regular showing day of six hours, it is possible for up to 1000 visitors to enjoy Colourscape.

Weather ‚ Colourscape can be shown in most weather conditions, usually between April and the end of September in the UK. In very hot conditions irrigation sprays are used to cool the structure. In the unusual event of high winds, the Colourscape show would be postponed. The windbreak which surrounds the structure is sufficient for most windy days.

Booking Fee ‚ This depends on the number of showing days, the venues location, the number of team members travelling with Colourscape and other funding/support which may be available.

Colourscape Music Festivals ‚ The purpose built sound system, with hidden loudspeakers, radio microphone system, digital mixers and computers are PAT certificated and positioned in such a way as to be safe for public performance. The musicians have a separate entrance and a stage manager handles get-in and get-outs, If these events are not appropriate to you, please see our events list and contact either Cwmni Colourscape or Nettlefold Trust for details and costs.
